Cosmos

0 min read
COSMOS I've almost finished reading Cosmos by Carl Sagan. I've read two and a half of his other books, and I expected to like this book too. I wasn't disappointed - the book is magnificent. He writes about science so beautifully - in many passages his words are almost like poetry. I've spent a lot of time thinking about the book and I've loved those thoughts. And there was this magical moment: I was in a bus, coming home from work, and I was greatly entertained by the book. I was reading about galaxies when I looked out of the window. I saw a pure white snowy field bathed in the bright sunlight. I suddenly felt overwhelming joy of belonging

This is what I've been up to: 1. Tallinn, Estonia. I absolutely loved it, I always have. There are so many interesting nooks and crannies to explore. 2. Helsinki I stayed at Hanna & Tatu's, my two childhood friends who are married to each other. I've known them since I was nine and ten respectively. We had lots of fun, but I must say that it doesn't feel too good if you laugh hysterically and the mineral water in your mouth comes out of your nose. I also saw some of my relatives, went shopping and saw Suomenlinna and fell in love with it. 3. Stawberries Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom no

I've always loved learning foreign languages, and now I've begun to study a new one: Japanese.   I have a lesson at the local community college every tuesday.  So far I've enjoyed the lessons very much. It will probably be challenging to learn hiragana, katakana and kanji, but I'm looking forward to that too. My teacher is a small, cheerful Japanese lady who is married to a Finnish man. In the very beginning she asked us why we wanted to learn japanese. My answer (apart from my love for foreign languages) was "because of Totoro." I must have seen My Neighbour Totoro a dozen times and I find it absolutely charming. I never quite realised why
